Test, Measurement & Laboratory

Custom Laboratory Instrument Battery Solutions

Stellova develops each lab equipment battery pack and custom laboratory device battery around instrument power states, measurement stability, backup duration, charging method, enclosure constraints and the final laboratory equipment interface.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Measurement Integrity and Controlled Operation Define the Battery

Laboratory instruments may require battery power for portable operation, ride-through, sample protection or controlled shutdown. The correct architecture depends on the instrument load, acceptable interruption and laboratory workflow.

WHAT TO DEFINE

Inputs for the First Laboratory Instrument Review

Early estimates are acceptable. Missing values can be refined through the requirements process.

01

Instrument function

Measurement, motion, thermal control, pumps, valves, computing and communication loads.

02

Continuity objective

Portable runtime, short ride-through, sample protection or controlled shutdown.

03

Power interface

DC-bus window, startup current, charger or AC adapter and low-battery behaviour.

04

Laboratory conditions

Installation space, service access, temperature, cleaning, documentation and destination market.

ENGINEERING CONSIDERATIONS

Power Continuity Must Protect the Instrument and the Process

The battery should be validated against sensitive electronics, startup events, actuators and the required response to mains loss or low SOC.

01

Continuity definition

Separate portable runtime, ride-through and shutdown requirements.

02

Power quality

Verify voltage window, ripple sensitivity, transient load and cutoff behaviour.

03

Charging integration

Coordinate charger, operation while charging and thermal limits.

04

Service and traceability

Define replacement, inspection, documentation and configuration control.

PROJECT-SPECIFIC BATTERY DEFINITION

Parameters Defined From the Instrument and Laboratory Workflow

No fixed reference configuration is published yet. Voltage, capacity, continuous and peak current, charging, BMS logic, communication, protection rating and mechanical interfaces can be customized for the target equipment. Final specifications are subject to the approved project definition.

Project parameterHow it is defined
System voltage & energyDefined from the DC input, continuity objective and reserve.
Continuous currentBased on measurement, computing, motion and thermal loads.
Peak current & durationBased on startup, pumps, motors, heaters or valves.
Charging interfaceAC adapter or charger behaviour, current and operation while charging.
BMS & communicationProtection, status, alarms and host interface as required.
EnvironmentTemperature, cleaning exposure, storage and laboratory conditions.
Mechanical integrationPack location, mounting, connector and service access.
Customization noteNo fixed reference configuration is published yet. Voltage, capacity, continuous and peak current, charging, BMS logic, communication, protection rating and mechanical interfaces can be customized for the target equipment. Final specifications are subject to the approved project definition.

VALIDATION & PRODUCTION READINESS

Verify Measurement, Power-loss and Recovery Behaviour

Testing should cover normal operation, load transitions, mains loss where applicable, low-SOC response, controlled shutdown, charging and recovery.

01

Prototype Verification

Electrical behavior, BMS logic, charging, communication and mechanical fit are checked against the agreed definition.

02

Application Testing

Environmental, load, runtime or interface tests are selected around the actual product risk and use conditions.

03

Certification Management

Applicable transport and market evidence is planned and coordinated for the final configuration.

04

Production Release

Approved specifications, quality criteria, test requirements and inspection reporting support controlled handoff.
